"We're obviously extremely excited to get back on the field and return to something moving closer to normalcy," TCNJ head coach Casey Goff said. "We're also excited to see what this team is capable of in '21. We've put a lot of work in under less-than-ideal circumstances, added some new wrinkles, and saw tremendous development in our current kids. We are bringing in another freshman class that we are extremely proud of."
TCNJ's 2021 campaign will begin with a trip to Muhlenberg on Sept. 4. The Lions' home opener follows against SUNY Cortland on Sept. 11, then TCNJ will hit the bye on week three.
Following the bye, the Lions will travel up to Dudley, Mass. to face Nichols College on Sept. 25. TCNJ and Nichols haven't faced off since the 1970 campaign.
Homecoming and the NJAC portion of the season await the Lions after the trip up north, as TCNJ will welcome William Paterson to Lions Stadium on Oct. 2. TCNJ last played William Paterson on Homecoming Weekend in 2018 and came away with a 24-7 victory. The Lions have won their last two Homecoming games, also defeating Kean 7-3 in 2019.
Back-to-back road conference games follow Homecoming Weekend in trips to Montclair State and Kean. TCNJ returns home to face Christopher Newport on Oct. 23 before another bye week on Oct. 30.
The 2021 regular-season schedule concludes with a trip to Salisbury on Nov. 6 and a home game against Rowan on Nov. 13. The Lions are eager and ready to get back on the football field and will be led by a big senior class.
"With 35 returning seniors, we are in a different place in terms of maturity," Goff said. "It's a place we haven't been in during our first four years. We're ready to play some football."
