Carson May attended an Iowa Football camp two weeks ago hoping to impress the Hawkeye coaches and pick up a scholarship offer. Although he left town without it, he remained positive. 

Monday, the opportunity arrived. 

"It meant a lot to me because I’ve been pretty patient for this one and for it to finally come feels good," the 2022 Jones (OK) High quarterback told HN.

Iowa contracted May in April, quarterback coach Ken O'Keefe spoke with him on the phone in early May and he accepted a camp invitation. He also stopped at Oklahoma State and Memphis this month. 

So far, the Hawkeyes are the only ones that have extended an offer. He also reports opportunities from Western Michigan and Old Dominion. 

"I will be making my decision soon," he said. 

May (6-5, 220) enjoyed the Iowa camp experience and touring the campus. 

"I was really impressed with the coaching staff and how experienced they are, and the facilities are outstanding and blew me away," he said.

O'Keefe sees something special in May. 

"He said I have the biggest upside, more than any kid that he has coached at the next level, and can play this game for a long time," May said.

May, who wants to study Exercise Science in college, believes Iowa has plenty to offer him. 

"It’s a great place overall, I love all the staff there and it would get me to the next level," he said. 

As a junior, May completed 219 of 362 passes for 3,007 yards and 26 touchdowns against five interceptions. He rushed for 650 yards and 14 scores.
