The Texas A&M Football team is recruiting everyone. With the landscape of college football recruiting in an abnormal 2021 offseason, even committed players to remain as top targets, as some of them have yet to make official visits to the schools they committed to.

As a result of this, they may choose to decommit if the campus that they visit isn’t really what they thought it was. Now that in-person recruiting is back, players’ ideas of their favorite schools may change. And that is exactly what happened with 5-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander on Monday.

Exactly one week after in-person recruiting was once again allowed, the big-bodied defensive lineman out of Fort Worth, Texas decommitted from Georgia. The 6-3, 325-pound lineman is considered a top target for Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Football team.

This is significant for a few reasons. Firstly, the Aggies have the potential to steal a 5-star defensive lineman from a conference opponent. This would not only make their own team better but cause Georgia’s defensive line to bleed a little bit in the upcoming seasons.

That said, the Aggies aren’t recruiting anyone just to keep them off of their opponents’ teams — Bear Alexander is as good at football as his name would imply.

The man is built physically like a bear. As mentioned, he stands at 6-2, 325 pounds, large enough to receive instant playing time at the Power 5 level. Even better — he has control over his body. Many players at his age play wildly, without much technique. Alexander plays a very well-rounded game for a player as physically dominant as he is at the high school level.

He should be a top priority for the Aggies from this point forward. After a couple of years of Bobby Brown, nothing but excellence is expected at the defensive tackle position. Alexander could bring that, only with a higher ceiling in the future.

Texas A&M seems like the favorite at the present moment, but virtually every other strong football program is in the running for this 2022 defensive lineman.
