Tuesday was the last day to enroll for the University of Miami’s spring semester.
That means Miami’s spring football roster is set for what promises to be an exciting offseason.
With the changes that UM head coach Manny Diaz has been able to pull off in less than a month since an embarrassing loss to Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl, the 2020 season is now going to be a very intriguing one for the Hurricanes.
That’s because Diaz has managed to totally revamp what was an inconsistent and unproductive offense in 2019 with a couple of big moves.
The first move was hiring offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee from SMU, who led an attack that averaged 41 points and 489 yards per game in 2019. The Mustangs had what was widely regarded as a top ten offense in the country last year.
Diaz and Lashlee then pulled off a tremendous addition to lead the new offense by nabbing former Houston quarterback D’Eriq King from the NCAA Transfer Portal.
King arrives at Miami with plenty of proven production as a college starter, having thrown for 4,925 yards with 50 touchdowns while rushing for 1,421 yards with 28 touchdowns.
King will provide a tremendous dual-threat at the quarterback position for Miami in 2020.
The additions of King and Lashlee have the potential to change the trajectory of UM’s 2020 season and the program under the leadership with Diaz. What does the rest of the team look like?
We thought it would be a good time to put together a spring football depth chart of what we think things will look like going into the summer months.
Read on for a look at how we think the spring football roster looks on paper.
Note: This depth chart is a post-spring depth chart or what we think it will look like after the month of spring football.
