Penn State Football recruiting prepares for big visit weekend - Victory Bell Rings

It will be a busy weekend in Happy Valley as Penn State Football recruiting visits take center stage

The NCAA recruiting dead period lifted earlier this week after a 15 month hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which is setting the stage for a potentially significant recruiting weekend for Penn State Football.

James Franklin and his staff can now host recruits and attempt to seal their commitments to the Nittany Lions.

Over the past couple of months, commits and other recruits have been locking in official visits to Penn State and other schools.

This weekend will be the first of four major recruiting events for Penn State Football.

There are a handful of big-time official visitors in Happy Valley this weekend: 5-star safety Keon Sabb, 4-star OL Ryan Brubaker and 4-star RB Kaytron Allen.

In addition to the official visitors, a group of unofficial visitors will be on campus. Three 2022 commits have stated their intentions to visit this weekend; Kaden Saunders, Ken Talley and Tyrece Mills.

Another 2022 commit, Drew Shelton, was on campus earlier this week for an unofficial visit.

According to Talley’s Twitter, 2023 4-star defensive back Shawn Battle will make the trip with Talley and Mills. Penn State is looking to gain ground with 2023 recruits, especially in Philadelphia, where Battle is from.

Penn State Football recruiting is also hoping to continue momentum with their 2022 class, which ranks sixth nationally.

Sabb is the highest rated recruit left on Penn State’s board and plays a position of need at safety. He’s from New Jersey, but plays at IMG Academy in Florida, which took him out of the heart of Penn State’s recruiting region.

Brubaker has become a bigger target for Penn State and offensive line coach Phil Trautwein after Jacob Allen committed to Rutgers at the end of May. He is an in-state kid and a legacy, sounds eerily similar to last cycle with Nolan Rucci.

Kaytron Allen, another IMG product, is one of numerous running backs that Penn State is recruiting in their quest to land two. Nick Singleton is likely the top target, but with the need for two, the staff will turn up the heat on Allen this weekend.

Visits have often helped Penn State with recruits during Franklin’s tenure in a big way, and the hope is that that will continue this month.
