It’s officially college football preview season, meaning we’re that much closer to game time for the 2021 Notre Dame Football team.
It’s hard to believe that a year ago at this time, there was a real chance there would be no college football season. Spring seasons were discussed and even canceling the entire season was on the table, which would have been a shocking turn of events for the Notre Dame Football program and the rest of the college football landscape.
Some of the magazines didn’t even find newsstands until mid-June.
Fast forward a year and it looks like things will be fairly normal this fall, as several stadiums have already announced they’ll be full, and non-conference games are all but a certainty. But there’s a long time until September, so all we can do now is speculate, and of course, there is no better speculation than sitting back and relaxing with a college football preview magazine.
This year’s college football preview books are already out, minus Phil Steele, whose magazine won’t make an appearance until late June. Also, this year, we’re down a magazine, with Street & Smith, formally Sporting News, not publishing yearbooks going forward.
They always produced great reads that admittedly weren’t always the most accurate, but still were a great source of off-season entertainment.
This year, the two main print previews that are already out are Lindy’s and Athlon. Both great and highly recommended.
