Senior Bowl football game 2020: Live updates recap, how Justin Herbert performed - OregonLive

Justin Herbert’s South Team lost to the North Team despite the Oregon Ducks quarterback leading his side to a hot start, but his performance was enough to earn him Senior Bowl MVP on Saturday. Get a look at a quick recap of his day at the 2020 Senior Bowl and details about that fast start provided below.

HOW JUSTIN HERBERT PERFORMED:

- It looks like that may be it for Justin Herbert in the first half. Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma takes over at quarterback for the South Team in the second quarter.

- End 1st Q: Herbert and the South Team get the ball back with just about a minute to go in the half following a North Team punt. He runs for a first down, then makes a tough throw out to the 49-yard line for a nice gain, but has to spike the ball with 22 seconds left in the half. On 3rd and 1, Herbert makes a fantastic throw on the run, but his receiver failed to make the grab as the ball sailed right through his hands. South Team keeps a 7-0 lead after the first Q.

- 2:26, 1st Q: Back under center for the South Team is Justin Herbert again. He is 6-for-6 on the day for 60 yards and a touchdown so far. He is sacked on first down, but gets some of it back on a handoff. On 3rd and 8, his throw outside is too strong and the South Team will punt. His first incompletion of the day. Still 7-0 for the South.

- 10:35, 1st Q: Former Ducks QB Justin Herbert under center as the South Team starting quarterback over Jalen Hurts to start this game. He makes a fantastic quick throw outside and across his body for a fight down, then hits a receiver for a 9-yard gain. On second and 1, Herbert fakes a handoff, evades a tackle and goes for a big run up the middle to get past midfield. Herbert on fire early. He caps the drive with a 20-yard screen pass to Lamical Perine for the touchdown. A perfect start for Herbert.
