Football Recruiting: Weekly commitment recap - 247Sports

The 2021 recruiting cycle hasn't slowed down one bit despite the NCAA extending its recruiting dead period through the end of June. If anything, it has only had the opposite effect as high school football players around the country continue to announce their respective college decisions.

During the past week – beginning May 9 and ending May 15 – there were 55 players who committed to a Power Five college football program. Of those players, 16 were rated as four-star prospects according to the 247Sports Composite.

The list of Power Five schools that secured at least one commitment this week includes (in alphabetical order): Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn (3), Baylor (2), Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech (3), Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville (2), LSU, Maryland (3), Michigan (2), Minnesota, Missouri, NC State, Nebraska, Oklahoma (2), Oklahoma State (2), Oregon State, Pittsburgh (3), Purdue, Rutgers (2), Syracuse, Tennessee (3), Texas (3), UCLA, USC (2), Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Washington State.

It should be noted that verbal commitments are non-binding and prospects in the 2021 class won’t be able to make it official until the Division I Early Signing Period, which begins on Dec. 16, 2020, and ends on Dec. 18, 2020. Those who elect not to sign during the early period will be able to do so on National Signing Day on Feb. 3, 2021.

With that in mind, scroll down to take a look at the prospects who committed to a Power Five program over the past week.
