Michigan State University has a new head football coach, according to Bruce Feldman with The Athletic.
The subscription-based sports journalism website reports Coach Mel Tucker with the University of Colorado has the job.
The Athletic says this comes after Tucker turned down the offer initially last week.
MSU continued to extend offers to the Cleveland native. The Athletic reports Tucker’s deal with the Spartans will more than double his Colorado coaching salary—which is more than $2.5 million.
He will be MSU’s 25th head coach.
9&10 News’ MISportsNow reported MSU’s Mark Dantonio stepped down last week.
Dantonio has been the head coach since 2007 and became the winningest head coach in Spartan football history.
