The Big Ten Network’s crew of Dave Revsine, Gerry DiNardo, Howard Griffith and Joshua Perry have been visiting every program in the conference this preseason. They were at Rutgers on Monday for practice and all of their coverage is in one place right here.
First, a summary of some of the analysis that the BTN crew shared on the broadcast.
As a former Big Ten coach, DiNardo always seems to focus on how practices are organized and he really liked what he saw at Rutgers. He also harped on the energy and effort that the team put forth. DiNardo pointed out the opportunity for Rutgers to get off to a good start in non-conference play and expressed optimism for them being able to take advantage of it. Griffith commented on the toughness of the team, the importance of repetitions of game situations and the potential for the freshman class to make an impact this season. Perry explained why he felt Rutgers is in good shape at the skill positions on offense and has playmakers on defense.
In addition, there were interviews with both coordinators as well as Greg Schiano. Here are some tweets and all the video coverage of the visit.
Dave Revsine tweeted a few clips from practice.
Stop #8 - @RFootball. No team in the Big Ten returns a higher percentage of its production from last season than the Scarlet Knights. Interested to see how they’ve progressed heading into year 2 of Greg Schiano era 2.0 pic.twitter.com/7Kj8IuHy58

Wide Receivers
Good WR crew here - led by Bo Melton. Offense improved by leaps and bounds - 20+ pts in 8 of 9 games after 5 20+ pt gms in conference in the prior 4 years combined. OC Sean Gleeson a rising star. pic.twitter.com/T42cX81nf9

Defensive line
This was not a great defense last year, but it did cause some havoc - leading the Big Ten in TFL one year after finishing last in that category. Mike Tverdov and Julius Turner leading the way up front. pic.twitter.com/8ZSEIsvsWd

We end with the annual thank you and shoutout to Cioffi’s of Springfield for the spread.
Anthony Cioffi’s Rutgers playing days are behind him - now in the CFL - but his dad, Jerry, and his family continue to take care of us every year. The highlight of the trip - Cioffi’s of Springfield, NJ delivering amazing food post-practice https://t.co/b1FX1xuAlP pic.twitter.com/Naummo8rgn
