11 Days to Purdue Football: Jack Albers - Hammer and Rails

We have our last walk-on QB today of the three on the roster.

Jack Albers - So.

Louisville, KY (St. Xavier HS)

6’1, 185 pounds

Quarterback

2021 Projection: Reserve

Albers technically has the fourth most experience on the field in the quarterback rooms s he has appeared in a college football game. He spent a year at the University of Dayton, which has a non-scholarship FCS program a lot like Butler. He played in one game, rushing for 16 yards and a touchdown on three carries against Marist on 11/9/2019. He then transferred to Purdue before last season.

Albers was a pretty good high school QB as a dual-threat guy. He had 2,371 yards passing and 20 touchdown passes, along with 863 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns in his three years. He also led them to the 2017 Kentucky state championship game, where they lost 38-21 to Louisville Trinity with noted football enthusiast Rondale Moore. Purdue punter Zac Collins was a high school teammate of Albers.

Albers is an extreme long shot to actually see the field this year barring a complete disaster of injuries, but he is an excellent choice to run the scout team for when e face mobile quarterbacks.
