Football rankings: Cleveland assumes top spot in East - HighSchoolOT

East Top 25: After Rolesville went down to Pinecrest, there had to be a new No. 1 in the eastern half of the state. Cleveland, which routed Cary to open up the season, moves up a tick. Richmond, which routed reigning 3AA champ Mount Tabor (Tabor is now 4A), jumps Gibbons into second, but the Crusaders gave West No. 1 Chambers a scare last week.

Pinecrest started the season unranked but vaulted into eighth after the win. Millbrook replaces the team it beat in Week 1, Apex Friendship, while Rocky Mount jumps in at 19th after defeating Tarboro. Seventy-First gets its top 25 appearance after Cape Fear struggled with Riverside of Durham, and Jacksonville moves in as well.
