A notable recent storyline on the trail for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class had to do with the attempts by newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian and second-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman to try and flip a key commit of a rival school. Four-star 6-foot-1 and 180 pound Garland wide receiver Jordan Hudson is a commit of the Oklahoma Sooners 2022 class. Since July 21, 2020, Hudson was committed to the 2022 Oklahoma class.
The native of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Hudson has also remained a target of the Longhorns 2022 class, though. Despite his commitment to Oklahoma, the Longhorns still are going all out of late to do what they can to get Hudson to flip.
And according to a report from Horns247 on April 6, Texas is “still working to flip” Hudson from the Sooners at this point of the offseason. Here’s the most significant part about what Hudson had to say in regard to the Longhorns coaching staff’s efforts to stay in communication with him.
“I talk to them every week,” he said. “They are trying to get me to stay home and to put on for my state.”
Texas working this hard to keep in communication with Hudson could be a good sign if Sark is able to legitimately get Hudson to buy into the potential of his offense in Austin. There’s surely already a lot of excitement building around the Forty Acres after the hire of Sark this offseason.
Can the 2022 Texas football recruiting class flip Jordan Hudson?
All of the expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions still have the commitment of Hudson sticking with the Sooners as of the evening of April 6. That might change in the near future, though, if Texas sticks with it this offseason.
Getting a visit from Hudson to the Forty Acres this summer, as official visits resume in the latter stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, would be huge for the Longhorns in pursuit of a flip of his commitment. Hudson reportedly is going to take a visit up to Norman later this month.
But there are no other visits currently scheduled for the summer for Hudson with any other schools.
Texas and Oklahoma are two of more than 20 schools that have offered Hudson thus far. Some of the other notable schools that have offered him includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans.
Moreover, Hudson ranks as the nation’s No. 120 2022 high school prospect, No. 15 wide receiver, and No. 23 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 180 high school prospect, No. 26 wide receiver, and No. 29 prospect out of Texas.
According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 8 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma. Texas holds commitments from seven prospects in their 2022 class, with the latest coming from three-star North Shore defensive tackle Kristopher Ross.
