For the Texas A&M Football team, there has been a handful of moving parts in the past decade. But one thing has held true throughout — Alabama is unbeatable.
This isn’t specific to the Aggies either, as every single team in the SEC has suffered as a result of Nick Saban’s reign of terror in this conference. The only team that has managed to stay close to the Crimson Tide is Auburn, who has been a sort of Kryptonite for ‘Bama.
Even so, they’ve lost their touch in recent years, resulting in total domination from Saban and company in the Southeastern Conference.
The Texas A&M Football team might be sneaking up on Alabama though
The Aggies haven’t gotten the upper hand on the Crimson Tide since 2012, over a half-decade before Jimbo Fisher arrived. It was a great win, but it hasn’t been replicated in recent years. In fact, other than an 8 point loss in 2017, Texas A&M hasn’t even been close to getting the win.
But they might be getting closer than you think. Here’s why.
Alabama just had one of the greatest years of any team in the history of college football. Unfortunately for them, they’re losing almost every starting piece of the offensive unit that had a legendary season.
The Aggies, for one reason or another, struggled with this offense. Over the past three matchups, they have allowed 45 points or more in each of these games. That ugly streak will stop in 2021.
The Texas A&M defense will be as ready as they’ll ever get. Unlike Alabama’s offense, this unit will be extremely experienced, with a ton of returning talent. The Alabama football team can try, but it’s hard to see a world where they replicate the offensive performances from the past three years.
In this very same matchup, the Aggies haven’t struggled all that much offensively. Jimbo Fisher’s teams have definitely left room for improvement, but a 25 point per game average isn’t awful against an Alabama team that has been tough for opponents in that stretch.
Texas A&M will also have a new-look offense though, but it might work out in their favor. The more Jimbo Fisher-recruited players that are in this system, the better this offense will be for a rapidly improving team. That fact has held true up until this point and shouldn’t change this coming season.
They’ll try their best to replicate their scoring, but if they can keep ‘Bama under 30 points, there’s no reason that this shouldn’t be a toss-up game between top ten teams in 2021.
It’s hard to crown a winner for this game now, but either program has a chance to get the win this coming season.
