The nearly two-month wait was worth the wait as far as Saturday’s regional winners are concerned.

High school football finally returned this weekend with the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s state regional round for all eight divisions. Check out MLive’s coverage below, including highlights from each region, as well as photographs and more.

ANN ARBOR

BAY CITY

The Cass City offense goes through pregame drills at the Division 7 regional final.

Cass City coach Scott Cuthrell said he felt like crying after Saturday’s game against Ithaca. Those would be tears of joy since his team knocked off the state’s No. 1 ranked team in Division 7. Lee Thompson has the scoop right here.

Defending Division 3 champion River Rouge kept its dream of a repeat alive after receiving an unexpected 27-yard field goal with 10 seconds left in regulation to beat Detroit Martin Luther King, 33-30. Tayshawn Massey hadn’t attempted a kick all year - not even an extra point. Read more.

Keegan DeKuiper kicked a clutch 25-yard field goal on the game’s final play, giving Mona Shores a 24-21 victory over host East Lansing. The defending Division 2 state champions will take on Traverse City Central next weekend. Read Scott DeCamp’s report here.

Constantine won its first regional championship since 2012, defeating Michigan Center 33-14. The Falcons had a slow start, but Josh VanDyke reports that they heated up in the second half. Read more.

SATURDAY STARS

Montague quarterback Drew Collins completed 12-of-12 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns and a perfect quarterback rating in a 41-16 win over Montrose. He also ran for a score.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central quarterback Joey Silveri was 11-of-12 for 158 yards in the Cougars’ 58-7 win over Muskegon Oakridge, and he threw five touchdown passes.

Mona Shores’ Brady Rose had 15 carries for 204 yards with two touchdowns (82, 48 yards), plus 4 tackles in the Sailors 24-21 win against East Lansing.

New Lothrop’s Will Muron rushed for 105 yards on 10 carries and had 130 receiving yards on seven catches in a 41-7 win over Loyola. He ran for a 46-yard touchdown and caught a 79-yard touchdown pass from Cam Orr.

Taking a snap on the varsity for the first time in place of All-State quarterback Brendan Sullivan, who left high school early to enroll at Northwestern, Davison quarterback Dion Brown completed 11-of-20 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions as Davison outgained Catholic Central 327-111 in a 20-7 victory over Detroit Catholic Central. Brown had played wide receiver all season.

East Lansing junior quarterback Brevin Jackson finished 13-of-23 passing for 223 yards with one touchdown and one interception, plus he rushed for a touchdown in a loss to Mona Shores. He got the start in place of injured Ambrose Wilson.
