Philip Rivers is one of the most dedicated football players in the game. He is someone who loves to play football and talk about football. And he will get to coach football when he decides to walk away from the National Football League.
On Friday, Rivers held a press conference announcing that he has been hired to be the head football coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Alabama.
Of course, Rivers is not going to take over immediately because he still believes that he has the ability to produce at a high level in the NFL, and he has a strong support system around him for however long he wants to be the Indianapolis Colts quarterback.
“I still love to play. Certainly not coming off my best year, but in a year where I still know I can play at a high level, I did it in spurts. I just didn’t do it consistently enough. And I love it, and shoot, it was one of those deals where we said, ‘Well, if there’s nothing else out there, then that’ll be our answer.’ We kind of said, ‘Whatever God wants, so if there’s nothing out there, I don’t want to just try to hang on to play. If nothing’s out there, shoot, we’ll start coaching,” he said Friday according to AL.com.
Rivers said he had two dreams in his life: one was to play in the NFL and the other was to coach high school football like his father did.
The high school football job will be waiting for the 8-time Pro Bowler.
