There were some big names from the state of Washington who were not taken in seven rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.
But a handful of those hopefuls wasted no time signing undrafted free agent (UDFA) deals with NFL teams , including the University of Washington trio of lineman Trey Adams, tailback Salvon Ahmed and tight end Hunter Bryant.
Here is the list of UDFA signings:
OL Trey Adams, Wenatchee: Once thought to be a first-day draft pick two years ago before injuries (knee, back) took a toll. The UW’s big left tackle signed with the Buffalo Bills.
RB Salvon Ahmed, Juanita: A bit of a head-scratcher why he wasn’t taken. He bulked up but ran slower at the NFL Scouting Combine than many expected. Immediately signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
TE Hunter Bryant, Eastside Catholic: Was it the slow recovery to knee injuries? Was it his mediocre combine testing numbers? In any case, the Detroit Lions got a potential impact playmaker.
DL/LB Benning Potoa’e, Lakes: Iron Husky Award winner was part-time starter as senior, but reunited with former UW teammate Vita Vea. Could play all over for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
DL/TE Bryce Sterk, Lynden: Was a monster pass rusher his only season at Montana State (20 tackles for loss, 15 sacks) after transferring from the UW. Signed with the Miami Dolphins as a tight end.
TE Charlie Taumoepeau, Federal Way: Two-time FCS All-American had a highly-productive career at Portland State (117 receptions, 1,876 yards, 11 TDs), and goes to the Dallas Cowboys.
OL Calvin Throckmorton, Newport of Bellevue: Combine testing numbers hurt his draft stock as utility lineman, but was reliable at Oregon. Signed with the New Orleans Saints.
