Memphis Football Adds February Signees - Memphis Official Athletic Site

MEMPHIS – Head Coach Ryan Silverfield put the finishing touches on his first recruiting class Wednesday. The February additions will join a 14-player December class, eight of whom are already enrolled at the University of Memphis.  
 
The February signees are:
 
Davian Mayo // LB // 6-1 // 215 // Monticello, Ark./Drew Central HS
A three-star athlete … Ranked the No. 9 player in the state of Arkansas … Played linebacker and running back at Drew Central High School under coach Matt Gonzales … Amassed 1,575 yards rushing and 143.2 yards per game during his senior year … Added six 100-yard rushing games and 19 touchdowns … Defensively, tallied 60 total tackles from his linebacker position … Also registered 2.5 tackles for loss and recorded an interception.
 
Maurice White // DL // 6-5 // 290 // Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King HS/Ellsworth CC/East Mississippi CC
Rated a three-star defensive lineman … A one-year letterwinner at East Mississippi Community College under coach Buddy Stephens … Logged 22 tackles in sophomore season at EMCC … Also recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown against Pearl River CC … Also played one season at Ellsworth CC, appearing in six games and finishing with five tackles … Rated the No. 50 player in Michigan out of high school.

2019 Region 2-3A Lineman of the Year … 2019 All-Region 2-3A … Four-time state champ at Alcoa High School … The Tornadoes compiled a 56-4 record in his four season on the varsity squad … Alcoa shutout Pearl-Cohn 27-0 in the Class 3A state championship game in 2019 … Alcoa was 14-1 in his senior campaign and ranked No. 10 nationally in the MaxPreps.com Small Schools Top 25 … Played for head coach Gary Rankin.
 
Keilon Brown // QB // 6-1 // 184 // Zachary, La./Zachary HS
A three-star, dual-threat quarterback … Ranked the No. 19 ranked dual-threat quarterback in the class by 247sports.com … Finished his senior campaign with 2,806 passing yards and 31 passing TD … Also rushed for 1,294 rushing yards and 19 TD … Played for head coach David Brewerton  … Guided Zachary High School to back-to-back Class 5A state championships in 2017 and 2018 … Named The Advocate's Boys' Athlete of the Year following his junior season … Also plays baseball at Zachary, where he hit .409 with three home runs … A Class 5A All-State baseball player and helped Zachary to the Class 5A quarterfinals. 
 
Jonah Gambill // OT // 6-3 // 276 // Cartersville, Ga./Cartersville HS – January Enrollee
Two-time all-state and all-region player at Cartersville High School for head coach Conor Foster … Rated a three-star offensive lineman by 247sports.com … Named to Georgia High School Football Daily and Recruit Georgia 2019 preseason All-State teams … Selected to the Blue-Gray All-America game …  His senior squad went 12-1 overall before falling in the Class AAAA state quarterfinals.

Prepped at St. Francis Borgia High School and was coached by Dale Gildehaus … Named to MaxPreps.com Missouri All-State first team … Earned Archdiocesan Athletics Association (AAA) All-Conference first team honors (OL) … Selected AAA Conference Lineman of the Year … Played in the inaugural Missouri American Cancer Society/"Crucial Catch" All-Star Game in St. Louis Dec. 15 … Recorded 20 pancake blocks in 2019 … Blocked for an offense that helped produce a 9-3 record and a district championship in 2019.

A three-star standout joining the Memphis program after stints at Jones College and Raleigh-Egypt High School … Named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-America first team following his freshman season in 2018 … As a freshman, rushed for 1,289 yards and 10 TD … Also selected the Region 23 MVP and the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) South Division Most Valuable Back … As a sophomore at Jones College in 2019, posted 789 yards and 10 TD … Had two 100-yard rushing efforts, including a season-high 186 at SW Mississippi on Sept. 26 … Added 31 yards receiving on three catches … Rated the No. 5 junior college running back and No. 36 overall player in the nation by JCGridiron.com … As a senior at Raleigh-Egypt in 2017, named Class 3A Mr. Football … Set the Shelby County/Memphis area record for TD with 40 in 2017 … Helped lead the Pharaohs to the Class 3A state playoffs quarterfinal round.

A three-star prospect … Prepped at Warner Robins High School for head coach Marquis Westbrook … Amassed 3,246 receiving yards and 11 TD in his career … Tallied a Georgia single-season record with 2,046 yards receiving as a junior and added 773 yards his senior season … Also posted 135 career rushing yards … In special teams, returned kicks and punts for a combined 413 yards, including 159 yards as a senior … Helped lead the Demons to a 39-6 record and three-straight state championship game appearances from 2017-19.

Posted 1,056 receiving yards on 58 catches with 17 TD in his prep career … Helped his squad to a 7-5 mark and the Class 5A playoffs his senior season … Hauled in 33 catches for 434 yards and five TD his senior campaign … Had five catches for 94 yards and a TD in the Tigers' Class 5A area playoff game … Played for head coach Gerry Stanford. 
 
Rhett Weidenbacher // TE // 6-3 // 235 // Metairie, La./ Holy Cross School /Butler CC– January Enrollee
A three-star prospect out of Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan. … Listed as the No. 6 junior college tight end nationally … Tallied 115 yards on 10 receptions and four TD in his two seasons … Caught four passes (54 yards) as a sophomore and all four receptions were for TD … Had a long reception (TD) for 28 yards … Helped lead Butler to a 10-3 record and the Midwest Bowl Classic title … As a freshman in 2018, earned All-Jayhawk Conference honorable mention Recognition … Prepped at Holy Cross School in Metairie, La. … Also played on the defensive line at Holy Cross.
 
Memphis opens spring football practice on Wednesday, March 18. The Tigers' 2020 spring game has been scheduled for Friday, April 17.
