Michigan State football trending for Tennessee LB Quavaris Crouch - Spartan Avenue

For weeks, we’ve heard about potential transfers and rumors about who could be next. A couple of names have popped up a lot recently in Purdue’s Maliq Carr and Tennessee’s Quavaris Crouch.

Mum has been the word on Carr ever since Tom Dienhart proclaimed that he would be transferring from Purdue with the intention to play football and basketball for Michigan State. He probably slowed down on committing because he didn’t want the Spartans to face any backlash for a potential tampering issue so it makes sense that he hasn’t officially joined MSU yet.

As for Crouch, he has been rumored to be a top Michigan State target for about a month now after entering the transfer portal but nothing has become official.

This may have conjured some doubt for those who were expecting him to already be a part of Michigan State’s roster for 2021 but a couple of new 247Sports crystal balls should ease those concerns.

On Wednesday, MSU recruiting insiders Corey Robinson and Justin Thind put in transfer crystal balls for the Spartans to land Crouch. This is especially important as spring ball winds down and newcomers begin arriving on campus this summer.

Crouch would be a huge get for Mel Tucker and Co.

Quavaris Crouch is an instant upgrade for Michigan State football

While Crouch hasn’t officially been announced by Michigan State, the overwhelming consensus is that he ends up in East Lansing with the Spartans and Tucker.

What this means is that the linebacker corps immediately improve.

Noah Harvey and Antjuan Simmons were the starters last year and with the latter gone, there needs to be a quality replacement. Plus, Harvey seems more like a depth piece rather than a sure-fire starter. If Michigan State lands Crouch, who started for Tennessee and posted 57 tackles and two tackles for loss in 2020, he would immediately upgrade the position and join forces with guys like Chase Kline, Cal Haladay, Ma’a Gaoteote, Tank Brown, and Ben VanSumeren to complete a solid unit.

Many thought Crouch should have played running back in college but maybe in the right situation, he could become a star. The former No. 61 recruit in the country could do just that in East Lansing.
