XFL schedule Week 1: What football games are on today? TV channels, times, scores - Sporting News

The XFL is finally here ... again.

Vince McMahon's initial attempt at the XFL back in 2001 only worked out for a single season, but there's optimism that the league starting in 2020 will be different. The league is starting with eight teams split into two divisions. The East Division features the D.C. Defenders, New York Guardians, St. Louis BattleHawks and the Tampa Bay Vipers. The West Division features the Dallas Renegades, Houston Roughnecks, Los Angeles Wildcats and Seattle Dragons.

Each team will play 10 regular season games — one game against a team from the opposing division (4) and two games against teams from your own division (6). Each week will feature two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. The regular season starts on Feb. 8 and lasts until Apr. 12.

Games will be aired on various ESPN, ABC and Fox networks throughout the year.

Here's everything you need to know about the XFL Week 1 games, including a full schedule with TV channels, start times and scores.

Saturday XFL games TV channels, live stream

Here's how to catch every game on Saturday.

Dragons at Defenders

  • Kickoff: 2 p.m. ET
  • TV: ABC
  • Live stream: WatchESPN and the ESPN App

Cardale Jones will be starting his XFL career off at home against fellow quarterback Brandon Silvers. The Defenders are one of the more hyped teams of the XFL, at least in the betting world. And on the other side, the Dragons are viewed as the weakest team with an over/under of 3.5 wins on the season, according to Bet Online.

Starting at receiver for the Dragons are Kasen Williams, Austin Proehl and former Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds. Starting at running back is AAF star Ja'Quan Gardner, and backing him up is former Chargers running back Kenneth Farrow. The Defenders have Malachi Dupre and DeAndre Thompkins starting at receiver with Jhurrel Pressley at running back.

Wildcats at Roughnecks

  • Kickoff: 5 p.m. ET
  • TV: Fox
  • Live Stream: Fox Sports App

Unfortunately for us, the Wildcats will likely be without starting quarterback Josh Johnson. Johnson is a journeyman NFL quarterback who was actually wanted by the Lions this season after Matthew Stafford was hurt. Starting in his place for L.A. will be Charles Kanoff, who played college football at Princeton. His starting receivers will be Jordan Smallwood, Adonis Jennings and Nelson Spruce. Starting at running back for the Wildcats is Elijah Wood.

The Roughnecks are led by P.J. Walker at quarterback. His starting receivers are Sammie Coates, Cam Phillips, Kahlil Lewis and Nick Holley. Starting at running back for Houston is Andre Williams, who was a finalist for the Heisman during his 2013 season at Boston College.

Sunday XFL games TV channels, live stream

Here's how to catch every game on Sunday

Vipers at Guardians

  • Kickoff: 2 p.m. ET
  • TV: Fox
  • Live Stream: Fox Sports App

The Vipers will be on the road starting former Georgia star quarterback Aaron Murray. He'll be throwing to starting receivers Dan Williams, Reece Horn and Jalen Tolliver. Starting at running back for Tampa Bay will be De'Veon Smith.

On the other side of the field will be the Guardians who are starting former Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin. His receivers will be Colby Pearson, Austin Duke and Mekale McKay. Starting at running back for New York will be Tim Cook.

BattleHawks at Renegades

  • Kickoff: 5 p.m. ET
  • TV: ESPN
  • Live Stream: WatchESPN and the ESPN App

The BattleHawks gets a tough opening game on the road against one of the early favorites in the XFL. St. Louis will start Jordan Ta'amu at quarterback as he makes his first professional football debut in this game. His receivers will be De'Mornay Pierson-El, Alonzo Russell and L'Damian Washington. The running back will be former fantasy football favorite Christine Michael, and backing him up will be former Redskins rusher Matt Jones.

The Renegades are led by quarterback Landry Jones. He suffered an injury in early January and has been working his way back, but it's unclear if he'll be ready to start in Week 1. If he can't go, expect Philip Nelson to start. The wideouts on Dallas include Freddie Martino, Flynn Nagel and Jeff Badet. Starting at running back will be former Panthers player Cameron Artis-Payne.
