MORLEY — Senior Morley Stanwood offensive lineman Logan Griffes gets to add one more accomplishment to his list of accolades for his high-school football career.
This week, the Mohawk standout was named to the 2020 Michigan High School Football Coaches Association West All-Star offensive team.
Although this year’s East-West All-Star Game has been canceled due to prolonged COVID-19 concerns, Griffes said it was still an honor to be selected among some of the best student-athletes in the state.
“It’s a good feeling knowing your hard work paid off, and I’m just excited that I would have had the opportunity (to play) if it hadn't been canceled,” Griffes said.
While football is his primary sport, Griffes usually either plays baseball or runs track in the spring.
Griffes said he would have liked to have had one final semester of either track or baseball, but is now thoroughly committed and focused on the gridiron.

... more“I guess it just feels like something is missing in the spring — it’s just an odd feeling,” Griffes said. “I wish we would have been able to do something one last time, but now it’s just on to next football season.”
In February, Griffes signed a letter of intent to play football at Hope College.
With a weight room inside his home where he can bench, squad and clean, Griffes has been able to keep up his usual workout routine in the months leading up to his departure to Holland.
“I’ve really just been working on those and doing some conditioning to keep building for next football season,” Griffes.
Griffes said he’s both excited to start playing football at the collegiate level.
“It’ll be a challenge and it’ll be a lot of fun,” Griffes.
