Brent Dearmon joining Nick Saban, Mike Leach at football seminar - 247Sports

Kansas offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon is joining a list of high-profile football personalities for this year's "L'Arche Football Preview," which is an event that involves various speakers talking about the topics of leadership and football.

Some of the keynote speakers at the event, according to WKRG in Alabama, include SEC coaches in Nick Saban (Alabama), Mike Leach (Mississippi State), Gus Malzahn (Auburn) and Kirby Smart (Georgia). Other coaches expected at the event include Dave Aranda of Baylor and Clay Helton at USC.

According to the event website, the seminar will take place on Thursday, May 28 and last from about 7 p.m. until 8:30. Those hoping to see the seminar will go to a web link — that, per WKRG, will be available, here — where they will be able to see presentations from each coach and personality ranging from five to 10 minutes.

Those presentations, again, will discuss the topics of football and leadership.

AL.com's story on the event also included the following quote from L'Arche director Marty O'Malley:

“We are very excited to offer our many friends this opportunity to hear various college football personalities talk about college football and leadership, especially during this uncertain time that we are all living. ... We hope that this gives many people a time to escape the stress that we are living and to be entertained. This virtual presentation will also give a wide variety of people in many places a chance to listen about college football as well as to hear about the mission of L’Arche Mobile.” (H/T AL.com)

As for Dearmon, KU's offensive coordinator has experienced a meteoric rise of sorts in his time in the coaching ranks. At one time a high school coach in the state of Alabama, Dearmon caught on in college as a staff analyst with Auburn before having the chance to serve as offensive coordinator at Arkansas Tech.

Dearmon then became the head coach at Bethel for a one-year stint in which his team posted 55 points per game and led all levels of college athletics in scoring. The next year he was off to Lawrence as a senior offensive consultant.

Midway through his first season with the Jayhawks, Dearmon was promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

In Dearmon's debut as KU offensive coordinator, the Jayhawks put up 48 points at Texas. The next game KU won a 37-34 shootout against Texas Tech. Overall, the Jayhawks finished the 2019 season, Les Miles' first as head coach, at 3-9.

Phog.net previously profiled Dearmon's coaching journey shortly before he was named offensive coordinator. You can read that feature, here
