Alvin Kamara racked up 179 scrimmage yards and a touchdown to help lead the Saints to a 13-10 victory in a rain-soaked Monday night game at Seattle.
Kamara had a dominant first half, as he became the first running back with eight or more receptions and 100+ receiving yards in the first half of a game since Brian Westbrook achieved that feat in 2004. Kamara also notched a career milestone by gaining 3,000 yards rushing and 3,000 yards receiving faster than anyone in league history.
Seattle’s offense got out to a great start when Geno Smith hit DK Metcalf for an 84-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to put the Seahawks up 7-0, but Seattle managed to post only 126 offensive yards on their next nine offensive drives.
New Orleans also got a clutch performance from rookie kicker Brian Johnson, who was filling in for the injured Wil Lutz. Johnson was successful on both of his field goal attempts, including a 33-yarder at the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter that gave the Saints a 13-10 lead.
The loss makes Seattle 0-3 in home contests for the first time since 1992.
New Orleans (4-2) hosts Tampa Bay next week. Seattle (2-5) has a home matchup against Jacksonville.
