BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2021 Patriot League spring football regular season concludes on Saturday with two League games. Lafayette (1-1 PL, 0-1 South) hosts Lehigh (0-2 PL, 0-1 South) in the 156th meeting of “The Rivalry”. Live coverage of the game begins at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN+ with Gary Laubach, John Leone and Mike Joseph handling the call. Bucknell (2-0 PL, 2-0 South) will host Fordham (1-1 PL, 1-1 North) at 1 p.m. at Christy Mathewson - Memorial Stadium. Doug Birdsong and Kevin Herr will handle the call on ESPN+.

Patriot League Announces Football Schedule Adjustments
The Patriot League North Division football game between Colgate and Holy Cross, scheduled for Saturday, April 10, has been cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Colgate football program’s Tier 1. With the cancellation of the contest, Holy Cross has clinched the North Division title and will meet South Division champion Bucknell on Saturday, April 17 in the first Patriot League Football Championship Game. The site of the championship game is still to be determined. Live coverage will begin on CBS Sports Network at 2 p.m. with Jason Knapp and Ross Tucker handling the call.
 
Patriot League 2021 Spring Football Season Explained
The Patriot League’s six football teams split into two three-team divisions for the 2021 spring season. Colgate, Fordham and Holy Cross play in the North Division. Bucknell, Lafayette and Lehigh play in the South Division. Teams will play each divisional opponent once. The League schedule will conclude on Saturday, April 17, with a championship game between the two division winners. The Georgetown football program will forgo participation in the spring 2021 season.

SERIES HISTORY: Lafayette and Lehigh meet in the 156th playing of “The Rivalry” college football’s most-played game. The Leopards lead the all-time series, that began in 1884, 79-71-5. The series has been played annually, uninterrupted since 1896.   The Mountain Hawks are 7-3 since 2010 with the Leopards winning last year in a 17-16 decision at Goodman Stadium.
 
LAST MEETING: (Nov. 23, 2019) - Lafayette junior placekicker Jeffrey Kordenbrock connected on a 28-yard field goal with 47 seconds remaining in the game to lift the Leopards to a 17-16 victory in the 155th meeting of ‘The Rivalry.’ Kordenbrock earned the game’s most valuable player honor for his game-winning kick. Freshman quarterback Keegan Shoemaker completed 16-of-24 passes for 124 yards in addition to rushing for 49 yards on 16 carries. He also led a nine-play 50-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal. Leopards’ junior running back Selwyn Simpson rushed for 41 yards, and a pair of touchdowns on 14 carries. Lafayette junior linebacker Major Jordan recorded nine tackles and 1.0 TFL, while freshman linebacker Marco Olivas had eight tackles, 1.0 sack, one interception and a fumble recovery. The Leopards defense forced four Lehigh turnovers. Lehigh quarterback Alec Beesmer completed 14-of-24 passes for 246 yards. Senior wide receiver Devon Bibbens caught four passes for 90 yards. Lehigh senior linebacker Keith Woetzel made 11 tackles, 5.0 TFLs, 2.5 sacks and one interception. He broke the Mountain Hawks’ single-season record with 12.0 sacks.

SERIES HISTORY: Bucknell and Fordham meet for the 36th time in series history with the Bison holding an 18-17 advantage. The Rams have won the last seven games between the two teams. The Bison last defeated Fordham in 2011 and 2012. The series between the two programs began in 1929 and resumed on an annual basis in 1989.
 
LAST MEETING: (Nov. 23, 2019) - Fordham junior running back Trey Sneed rushed for a pair of second-half touchdowns to lead Fordham to a 31-14 victory against Bucknell in Saturday’s regular-season finale. Sneed rushed for 76 yards on 16 carries with touchdowns of one and 15 yards. Junior quarterback Tim DeMorat completed 23-of-32 passes for 228 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis. Sophomore defensive back Anthony Tony-Itoyah and junior linebacker Glenn Cunningham each finished with eight tackles, while sophomore linebacker Ryan Greenhagen added six tackles, 2.0 TFLs and 1.0 sack. Bucknell junior quarterback Logan Bitikofer completed 28-of-50 for 230 yards and senior running back Chad Freshnock rushed for 66 yards on 10 carries. Bison junior linebacker Rick Mottram recorded 11 tackles and returned a fumble five yards for a touchdown, while junior linebacker Gerrit Van Itallie made 10 tackles, 4.0 TFLs, 2.0 sacks and broke up two passes.

Bucknell and Holy Cross to Meet in Patriot League Championship Game
Bucknell clinched the South Division title and a spot in the first Patriot League Football Championship Game with a 6-0 win at Lehigh on Saturday for the program’s first shutout win since 2017.  They will take on defending Patriot League Champion Holy Cross, who earned the North Division Crown after the cancellation of their Week Five matchup against Colgate. The Patriot League Football Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 17 and will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network at 2 p.m. The winner will earn the League’s automatic bid to the 2021 FCS Championship.
