USC football: 2022 prospects the Trojans should covet - Reign of Troy

If USC football wants to #TakeBackTheWest, then these five 2022 prospects should be at the top of Clay Helton's list.

It's no secret that recruiting is not only the key to a successful college football program but is also a year-round, neverending task. With the 2021 season about to kickoff, Clay Helton and his USC football staff have to prioritize recruiting for the 2022 class right now.

When looking at potential recruits, the biggest factors have to be positional need, overall talent and ranking of the recruit, and -- often overlooked -- keeping the best recruits from leaving your backyard. The #TakeBackTheWest mantra now employed by the Trojans has to focus on all three areas for successful recruiting classes.

Those things in mind, there are five players who Helton and his staff should undoubtedly focus on for 2022. If the Trojans can land these players, it will round out what looks to be a terrific class of players.

Keep in mind, some of these players are a serious reach for the Trojans, but all it would take is for a couple of these elite players to commit to USC for a domino effect to begin, causing more of the top prospects in the country to flip their commitments and become Trojans.
