- Pac-12 Official Communications Partner Nextiva to present weekly & annual awards -

SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 today announced its 2020 football season's first weekly honors​. New this season, the Pac-12 is deepening its relationship with Official Communications Partner, Nextiva. Starting this week, ​all weekly Pac-12 football awards will be presented by the cloud communications company. At the conclusion of the season, Nextiva will also present Pac-12 annual performance awards, including Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. 

See below for Week One's recognitions across the Conference: 

OFFENSE: Jarek Broussard, So., TB, Colorado (Dallas, Texas)

• Broussard’s 187 rushing yards in Colorado's 48-42 over UCLA are the most ever by a Buff in their collegiate debut and the most by a Pac-12 player in their debut since 2011.
• Became the 19th player (since 1956) to gain 100-or-more yards in a first start at tailback, gaining the third-most in the process. 
• His three rushing touchdowns tied a Colorado record for most touchdowns in a running back’s debut.

Also nominated: Tyler Shough, QB, Oregon; Jermar Jefferson, RB, Oregon State; Dorian Thompson-Robinson, QB, UCLA; Kedon Slovis, QB, USC; Travell Harris, WR, Washington State.

DEFENSE: Merlin Robertson, Jr., LB, Arizona State (Carson, Calif.)

• Robertson recorded a fumble recovery and interception against No. 20 USC, and now has two interceptions in his past three games dating back to last season. 
• He also posted 10 combined tackles, including one tackle for loss and five solo tackles. 
• Kept USC from a potential tying or go-ahead score in the final minutes of the first half when he made a diving interception off the arm of Kedon Slovis at the ASU 10-yard line.
• Late in the third quarter, Robertson tackled USC RB Stephen Carr for a one-yard loss on 4th & 1 at the ASU 6.
• Ended another USC drive in the fourth quarter after recovering a fumble forced by teammate Evan Fields.

Also nominated: Isaiah Lewis, S, Colorado; Isaiah Pola-Mao, S, USC; Ron Stone Jr., E, Washington State.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Michael Turk, P, Arizona State (Dallas, Texas)

• Turk punted five times and averaged 51.6 yards per punt, and pinned the Trojans inside their own 20-yard line three times.
• The Ray Guy Award watch list honoree also posted three punts 57 yards-or-further, including a game-high punt of 58 yards, and now has 26 career punts over 50 yards

Also nominated: Bru McCoy, WR, USC; Dillon Sherman, LB, Washington State.

OFFENSIVE LINE: Ryan Walk, Jr., OL, Oregon (Eugene, Ore.)

• Highest graded offensive lineman in the Pac-12 and second highest in the nation for Week 10 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) with a grade of 89.6. 
• Top graded guard in the nation by PFF and his run-blocking grade of 90.2 was second highest in the country. 
• Made his first career start (Right Guard) against Stanford and played 58 snaps combined at right guard and left guard. 
• Named to the PFF National Team of the Week for week 10. 
• Earned a 100 percent assignment grade from the Oregon coaching staff. 
• Helped Oregon rush for the most yards (269) by a Pac-12 team in the open weekend of action while not allowing a sack. 
• Three different Ducks rushed for over 70 yards each for the first time since 2017 while Oregon broke eight runs of 10-plus yards, including six in the second half.
• Oregon improved to 11-0 under head coach Mario Cristobal when rushing for 200 yards.

Also nominated: Will Sherman, OT, Colorado; Abe Lucas, OT, Washington State.

DEFENSIVE LINE: Marlon Tuipulotu, R-Jr., DT, USC (Independence, Ore.)

• In the season-opener against Arizona State, Tuipulotu had eight tackles, including two for losses with the game's only sack against Sun Devils' QB Jayden Daniels.

Also nominated: Mustafa Johnson, DL, Colorado; Brennan Jackson, E, Washington State.

FRESHMAN: Jayden de Laura, Fr., QB, Washington State (Honolulu, Hawaii)

• First true freshman in school history to open the season as the starting quarterback, de Laura completed 18-of-33 attempts for 227 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also added 43 rushing yards on eight attempts and a touchdown. He was the first true freshman Cougar to start any game under center since 2009. 
• His first career TD pass came late in the first quarter, a 29-yard score to Travell Harris. 
• His first rushing touchdown gave WSU a 21-7 lead early in the third quarter, a five-yard score. On the Cougars' next possession, de Laura found Harris again, this time on a 28-yard strike to the back pylon to give Washington State a 28-7 lead.
• Seven of his eight rushing attempts were for positive yards, including two for first downs. He was only sacked once in the game.

Also nominated: Chip Trayanum, RB, Arizona State; Noah Sewell, ILB, Oregon; Bru McCoy, WR, USC.
