Little about Clemson's 2021 season has been pretty, and the Tigers' 17-14 victory over Syracuse on Friday night was par for the course. The much-maligned Tigers offense finished with just 314 total yards, needing a missed 48-yard field goal from Syracuse in the final minute to avoid a potential overtime situation on the road.
In the end, the Tigers improved to 4-2 and stayed in the race for the ACC Atlantic with another uninspiring victory. D.J. Uiagalelei passed for 181 yards and one touchdown while completing 21-of-34 attempts. Kobe Pace led the Tigers with 76 yards on 14 rushing attempts while true freshman running back Will Shipley missed the game due to injury.
Next up, No. 9 Oregon will be kicking off against California in a revenge spot for the Ducks. Cal upset Oregon 21-17 last season in what ended up being the only victory of the Bears' four-game season. Things haven't gone much better for Cal this season, but another win over Oregon would be a massive boost for fifth-year coach Justin Wilcox. But as Oregon comes off a bye week following a 31-24 overtime loss at Stanford on Oct. 2, the Ducks should be motivated to prove they still belong in the College Football Playoff conversation.
Sandwiched within Clemson and Oregon taking the field on Friday night, Marshall took care of North Texas and No. 24 San Diego State clashes with San Jose State.
