FSU football: Lessons learned from 2021 NFL Draft - Chop Chat

fsu football

The FSU football program is one of a few where high school football players can enroll and go on to make millions.

Sure, you can do that from any school, but it has consistently happened in Tallahassee with 38 years straight of players drafted from the program.

Heisman winners, No. 1 overall draft picks, and the NFL Hall of Fame are some of the accolades won by FSU football players.

Despite its worse season in most of our lifetimes, the Noles still had four players taken in the most recent NFL Draft.

However, there were six players talented enough to hear their names called over the past few days.

A variety of factors determine if a player enrolls at a college and goes on to play at the professional level. It depends on their talent level, the college depth chart, injury luck, coaching and development, and other factors.

However, most of all, it comes down to what those players put on tape when the lights come on. These NFL teams are investing millions in these players, banking on them to become impact players at the next level, and they can’t afford to dump money into someone with a low percentage of that happening.

Talent counts for a lot, but I think the 2021 NFL Draft re-emphasized some things that may have been forgotten.
