Three Tennessee Vols football players arrested on drug charges - Rocky Top Talk

A tough offseason gets even tougher for Tennessee football. Just weeks into the Josh Heupel era, three Tennessee football players have been arrested on drug charges. Linebacker Martavius French, defensive lineman Isaac Washington and linebacker Aaron Willis were each booked on simple possession and unlawful drug paraphernalia charges, per WATE.

According to the report, the incident happened on Tuesday night earlier this week.

University police sent out a safety notice following the incident at Stokely Hall, described as an assault and burglary by a group of four or five males.

According to the notice, a Stokely Hall resident was assaulted by one man, while “three to four other males entered the residence and went to another room in the apartment where it was believed they took items belonging to the victim.” (ESPN)

French is entering his second season in the program, while Washington and Willis signed with the Volunteers during the 2021 cycle and enrolled in January. Tennessee is gearing up for spring practice at the end of March.

Tennessee is already thin at the linebacker position following the loss of Henry To’o To’o and Quarvaris Crouch, so Willis and French being involved here is a big deal. Neither Willis or Washington was recruited by Josh Heupel’s staff, as each signed early while Jeremy Pruitt was still on the job.

UPDATE: A statement has been released from Tennessee.

“We are aware of an incident that occurred at Stokely Hall involving football student-athletes,” said the statement from UT’s athletic department. “The individuals involved in the incident have been suspended indefinitely from football activities pending further review of the matter by the university.”
