Lions vs. The Washington Football Team: How to watch, schedule, live stream info, game time, TV channel - CBS Sports

Through 2 Quarters

After a tough loss on the road their last time out, the Detroit Lions look much better today on their home turf. They are in control with a 17-3 lead over the Washington Football Team. The Detroit defense has allowed an average of points per game, so they seem to be stepping things up today.

Nobody has stood out from the pack for Detroit offensively yet, with QB Matthew Stafford being one of several leaders. He has passed for two TDs and 139 yards on 16 attempts. Near the top of the highlight reel was Stafford's 55-yard TD bomb to WR Marvin Hall in the first quarter.

Both the Lions and Washington suffered losses in their previous contests, but Detroit is closer to making up for it this week. Either team could still leave here with a redeeming win, so expect a scrappy second half.

What to Know

This Sunday, the Detroit Lions are hoping to patch up the holes in a defense that has allowed an average of 30 points per game. They will square off against the Washington Football Team at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Ford Field. Detroit's scoring has been on the decline the past three games, which is obviously a trend Washington hopes will continue.

The Lions came up short against the Minnesota Vikings last week, falling 34-20. One thing holding Detroit back was the mediocre play of QB Matthew Stafford, who did not have his best game: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions.

Washington lost a heartbreaker to the New York Giants when they met in October, and they left with a heavy heart again last week. Washington fell just short of New York by a score of 23-20. The contest was as close as the oddsmakers predicted, but Washington had been the slight favorite coming in. Washington's loss came about despite a quality game from WR Terry McLaurin, who caught seven passes for one TD and 115 yards. Alex Smith's 68-yard touchdown toss down the left side of the field to McLaurin in the fourth quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon.

With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the win. These two teams might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times in their most recent games.
