Arkansas HS football game ends in most unlikely way possible - 247Sports

There are a lot of brutal ways to lose a football game. Back breaking turnovers, last second scores and sometimes mental mistakes.

Down in Arkansas, Fayetteville High School suffered a heartbreaking loss in the most unique fashion. Central High School might still be shocked they ended up winning the game.

On 4th down, leading 35-34 with the clock ticking down to four seconds remaining, Fayetteville ran a play, took a knee and thought it was over. Except, Central got the ball back with one second left and had a chance for a field goal to win the game.

The play clock was slightly ahead of the game clock so Fayetteville had to run a play. Rather than taking a snap and running the clock all the way down, as long as they kept the ball in play and out of the end zone, they would’ve won. Instead, it gave enough time to Central High School to kick a game winning field goal.

The loss for Fayetteville drops them to 4-6 on the season as Central improves to 3-4 and moves on in the 2020 Centennial Bank State Football Playoffs in Arkansas. Fayetteville previously won three games in a row up until this game where they were seconds away from getting to 5-5 on the year.

That is one of the most unlikely losses one will ever see in high school football.
