The Washington Football Team is giving its season ticket holders the choice of either a full refund in 2020 or the option to defer to the 2021 season and receive an account credit due to COVID-19 concerns, the club announced in a release on Tuesday.
Season ticket holders received a letter from Washington on Tuesday with the news.
The news comes just days after Washington executive VP and chief marketing officer Terry Bateman said that as of now, the team still planning to have fans in attendance at FedEx Field for home games this fall.
Washington can still have a certain number of fans attend games, should state and local regulations allow it. The NFL has said that fan attendance will be a stadium by stadium basis. The Baltimore Ravens, who play their home games just 32 miles north of FedEx Field, have already announced their stadium capacity will be less than 14,000 fans.
"If we can bring people into the stadium safely, according to the league rules, according to the local county and state jurisdictions we have to follow," Bateman said last week. "And I'm sure it's going to be changing consistently based on what's going on, so I just don't know."

Fans that are able to attend games will be required to wear a face covering. This is not just in Washington, as the NFL mandated facemasks for all fans that attend games leaguewide in 2020.
Washington has also announced that ticketing will be mobile-only in 2020, meaning season ticket holders will not receive hard copies of their tickets this season. FedEx Field has also made several changes to its operation to ensure that fans that attend games this fall will enter an environment as safe as possible.
