USA Today updates college football preseason Top 25 - 247Sports

If Alabama coach Nick Saban is forced to step up to the mic for a PSA, the game is changing. The growing coronavirus pandemic across the nation has threatened the 2020 college football season, a grim possibility if case numbers don't begin to dwindle in the neat future.

Even at smaller FBS program, a canceled — or even delayed — season would be catastrophic financially.

“We are working on all sorts of contingency plans,” Temple AD Pat Kraft said in an interview this week with USA Today. “We are just starting to run numbers as to what the impact of a delayed football season would look like. The impact would be felt not just on ticket sales but things like merchandise sales, donations and the potential impact on sponsorship and media dollars.

"This is just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t know yet what the total impact on the department would be, but it would impact our revenue for sure.”

If we continue to social distance and use smart choices across the country over the next few months, experts are confident we'll flatten the curve and get back to our regular programming ahead of college football to ensure there's still a chance at gridiron joy this fall.

Usually held for release at the end of spring practice, USA Today updated its college football preseason Top 25 ahead of the 2020 season this week:
