Offseason conditioning is rarely supposed to be fun. Especially when you are molding and training your body for the rigors of the SEC and the highest levels of college football. It’s supposed to be hard, that way when you’re taking the field on a hot Saturday in Columbia, S.C., you don’t wilt under the heat.
But on Sunday, the Georgia football account showed a couple of different ways how this team is attacking the offseason. And it looks a lot more fun than your traditional weight training video.
The first one that popped up seemed to be an individual Tug of War drill, where players would try and pull another with a rope attached between the two. Watching the video, it’s easy to see running backs Zamir White, James Cook and Kendall Milton showing off, as this seems to be the type of drill best suited for running backs.

I see that boy @therealkmilt at the :22 second mark dragging somebody.. That’s that short yardage strength in the red zone. Let’s go! https://t.co/tyMH83jhxk

The big guys up front like Clay Webb and Jamaree Salyer were also getting some love in the video, which also featured head coach Kirby Smart and Matt Luke encouraging players. It was a pretty interesting look at how Georgia coaches conduct their offseason drills. And this one does seem to have value in building the body, while also doing it in a competitive environment.
The second video the Georgia football account put out though just seemed like pure fun, along with sweet graphics.
It featured members of the Georgia football team as the coaches were facing off against the players, with a sweet overhead shot of the action. Peter La Fleur would likely approve of the energy and ability that the Bulldogs were showing.

The timing of these two videos likely isn’t a coincidence, as the Bulldogs are on spring break this week. With Georgia not holding school this week and spring practice set to start on March 17, this was the last part of those winter workouts that so often seem like they’re the most grueling. So these two activities could be seen as a reward of sorts.
This also isn’t the first time Smart and his staff have been willing to get creative with conditioning. Last fall, Smart brought in Georgia track star Matthew Boling to play a prank on the team.
When Georgia does hit the practice field this spring for the first time, the Bulldogs will have many questions to answer on the offensive side of the ball, with many new faces taking over for the likes of Jake Fromm, D’Andre Swift and Andrew Thomas.
The Bulldogs will get to showcase the work they’ve put in on April 18 as a part of the G-Day Scrimmage. It will begin at 2 p.m. ET and be held in Sanford Stadium.
