The Tennessee Vols only have three players currently committed to its 2022 recruiting class, but things could be picking up in the next couple of months.
New Vols head coach Josh Heupel and his staff are working hard on developing relationships with key recruits. And those relationships should start paying off soon in the form of commitments.
One of the players that Tennessee appears primed to land is 2022 four-star offensive lineman Addison Nichols.
Nichols, 6-foot-5/305 lbs from Norcross, GA (Greater Atlanta Christian School), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 offensive guard in the nation and the No. 12 player in the state of Georgia.
Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney recently “ranked the contenders” for Nichols and he currently has Tennessee as the program most likely to land the talented offensive lineman.
“There are a lot of connections between Nichols and Tennessee and it would be no surprise if the Vols won out in his recruitment,” wrote Gorney. “His mother went to school there and his grandparents still live in Knoxville and so those could be major considerations for Nichols.”
Nichols has an official visit to Tennessee coming up on June 18. He’s expected to commit later this summer.
Georgia, Ohio State, USC, and Florida are also in the mix to land Nichols, so the Vols certainly have their work out for them in this recruiting battle.
But for now, it appears that Tennessee is the team to beat for the Georgia native.
