Tennessee reportedly ahead of Alabama in battle for 4-star WR - atozsportsnashville.com

Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel appears to be on the verge of winning his first recruiting battle against Nick Saban and Alabama.

The two programs are pursuing 2022 four-star wide receiver Cameron Miller, a Memphis native who is rated as the No. 14 player in Tennessee.

Miller, 6-foot-1/195 lbs, is a versatile wide receiver who can play inside or outside. He’s known for being a tough player who fights for extra yards after the catch.

It’s easy to see why Alabama has identified Miller as a player they’d like to have in Tuscaloosa.

But fortunately for the Vols, it sounds like Miller is trending toward Tennessee.

“Alabama and Tennessee are standing out the most to the four-star receiver from Memphis Academy but the chatter is that the Volunteers are in the best shape,” wrote Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney this week.

“Tennessee has shown Miller a lot of attention and the offense could be intriguing to him so the Vols look best right now,” added Gorney.

The Memphis native spoke to VolQuest in early April about his recruitment and mentioned his relationship with Heupel as one of the reasons he likes Tennessee.

“Coach Heupel and I are pretty close,” said Miller to VolQuest’s Ben McKee. “He explains to me the goals for this season and his goal to get me up on Rocky Top. He just explains the new system he’s bringing to Tennessee and he wants me to be a part of it to win games.”

Miller would be an excellent fit in Heupel’s explosive offense. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the talented wide receiver commit to the Vols at some point this summer.
