Mel Tucker has done his part to make sure Michigan State football has been improving its overall talent level via the transfer portal. The team looks wildly different from when he took over last offseason to now with all of the roster turnover, and that’s not exactly a bad thing.
In fact, most of the players who have transferred from the Spartans went to Group of Five programs while a good number of the transfers he’s landed have come from the SEC or other Power Five conferences.
With a couple of roster spots still available, Tucker could use those on the transfer portal instead of letting them go to waste ahead of the 2021 season.
Here’s who Tucker should target in the transfer portal after spring ball.

Tommy Bush
WR GeorgiaBack when he was being recruited, Tommy Bush was one of Michigan State’s top targets. He was recruited heavily by Mark Dantonio and the Spartans so when he chose Georgia, you can imagine just how deflating it was.
Bush was ranked the No. 196 overall recruit in the 2018 class out of Schertz, Texas, and he held an astounding 46 offers. Pretty much every program was interested in Bush.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound receiver didn’t do much of anything on the field in his three years at Georgia as he was buried on the depth chart from his freshman year. He probably wishes he went somewhere that lacked depth at receiver so he could have played right away.
Michigan State could use some veteran depth at receiver and with Mel Tucker reaching out to Jordan Johnson, it seems like he might be looking for another wide out.
