FSU football lost one of its prized commitments when four-star defensive end Nyjalik Kelly announced his de-commitment from the Noles.
Mike Norvell and staff found Kelly when Kelly was listed as a three-star recruit and knew he was one of the best defensive players in the nation.
Once the pandemic began to subside, and Kelly got exposure to camps, other schools began calling, and his recruitment took off.
A lot of people thought Kelly’s de-commitment was the end of his recruitment with FSU. However, he’s a player in a massive position of need and not a player one can stop recruiting.

We’ve seen Mike Norvell and staff lose a commit, and then ultimately that play signs with FSU. It happened last recruiting cycle with four-star wide receiver Malik McClain.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the norm, but it has to be a good sign with a former commit announces they plan to visit Tallahassee in June and September.
The June 5th date is the day before the FSU Sunshine Showcase Mega Camp, and the September 5 date is the 2021 season opener against Notre Dame.
The Notre Dame game is likely an official visit, but Kelly didn’t specify. However, that game will be on a Sunday, and the atmosphere should be electric provided full capacity is allowable.
That should be the case by then. I think credit has to be given to Mike Norvell and the staff. Norvell hired some key contacts in South Florida and they don’t give up on kids if they want them.
I’m not saying this means Kelly will commit to FSU again or sign with FSU when the time comes. However, staying in the mix and getting him on campus multiple times isn’t a bad thing. If the Noles could make some noise against Notre Dame, I think that would go a long way in having Kelly suit up in garnet and gold!
