SCHEDULEMOREHEAD, Ky. --
After a canceled fall season and a shortened spring season, Morehead State Football is slated for a full 11-game schedule, including five home games, for the upcoming fall 2021 season.The schedule features one non-conference home contest and four Pioneer League home games. Ticket information as well as safety information or promotions will be finalized later and available on MSUEagles.com.
The slate kicks off on the road on Saturday, Sept. 4 when the Eagles take on FCS national semifinalist, James Madison. The Dukes, from Harrisonburg, Va., defeated the Eagles in the Spring 2021 season and finished 7-1 in 2021.
The Eagles' home opener will be on Sept. 11 and will play host to in-state foe Union. The Bulldogs, from Barbourville and members of the NAIA Mid-South Conference, were 1-6 in 2021.
Morehead State then travels to an Ohio Valley Conference opponent in Austin Peay on Sept. 18. The Governors and Eagles first played all the way back in 1962. They met recently in 2018 where the nationally-ranked Governors defeated the Eagles in Morehead. The Governors finished 4-5 in 2020-21.
Following a bye week on Sept. 25, PFL play begins on Oct. 2 with Dayton visiting Jayne Stadium. The Eagles will also host Butler (Oct. 16), Davidson (Oct. 30) and Stetson (Nov. 13) in conference play. Homecoming weekend is set for Oct. 15-16.
Road PFL games include Presbyterian (Oct. 9), Marist (Oct. 23), San Diego (Nov. 6) and Valparaiso (Nov. 20).
Morehead State concluded the 2020-21 season with a 4-3 record and a second-place finish in the PFL, its highest since 2015. More than 20 seniors are expected to suit up for the Eagles in the fall.
