The Philadelphia Eagles will finish their 2020 season at home on Sunday night with the opportunity to knock Washington out of the playoffs.

After being eliminated from playoff contention, the Eagles will also start the process of preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft, where the organization could land a top-5 or top-10 pick.

The first step in the process starts on Friday, New Years Day, when The Rose Bowl pairs No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Notre Dame, while No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Ohio State are scheduled to play in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

All four teams have generational talent on their rosters and the Eagles have glaring holes to address.

Here are ten players to watch in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

Waddle won’t be playing but he has the tape to backup being on this list.

In 2019 Waddle returned a kick and a punt for a touchdown and racked up 33 catches for 560 yards and six touchdowns as the Crimson Tide’s No. 4 threat behind Jeudy, Smith, and Ruggs.

In four games this season before suffering a broken ankle, Waddle matched his performance from last season, logging 557 yards and four touchdowns on 25 catches for an average of 22.28 yards per reception and was on pace for the huge season DeVonta Smith ultimately ended up having.

Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama

Surtain has allowed only 551 yards on 931 coverage snaps over the past two seasons, and Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees recently called him the strength of Alabama’s defense.

Surtain was a finalist for the 2020 Bronko Nagurski Trophy—given to the top defensive player in college football—and, according to Pro Football Focus, the son of a former star NFL defensive back graded out as the top cornerback in the country at 87.0.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame

Owusu-Koramoah is the player that Howie Roseman wants Nate Gerry to become.

Roseman loves to convert safeties to linebackers, so the Notre Dame star could be a natural fit because of his tweener status.

His versatility to go from slot to box whenever needed is something that could finally get the Eagles over the hump against elite passing offenses.

The Hampton, Va. native is a 6-foot 1, 216-pound freakish athlete with elite 4.4 speed, who’s also a tackling machine and extremely versatile.

For the Fighting Irish, he’s allowed only 197 yards on 31 targets this season, while playing as a hybrid safety, CB, linebacker.

DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

Last season while playing alongside Jerry Jeudy, Jaylen Waddle, and Henry Ruggs, Smith led Alabama with 1,256 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior, and his 68 catches were second on the team behind Jeudy.

This season as the consensus No. 1 wideout with Jaylen Waddle injured, Smith logged 98 passes for 1,511 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 15.4 yards per reception.

His only downside could be the smallish 175-pounds frame, but he also could be the next DeSean Jackson as well.

Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama

One of the best left tackles in all of America, Leatherwood was named preseason All-SEC by the coaches, and a first-team All-American by numerous services including The Associated Press.

Leatherwood has an overall grade of 90.8 at left tackle and the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide was second nationally in rushing touchdowns with 33 and ranked third in the SEC in rushing offense (190.1 yards).

Alabama’s offense was tops in the FBS in scoring offense (49.5 points) and pass-efficiency offense and third in total offense (537.6).

Wyatt Davs, OG, Ohio State

6. Wyatt Davis, Guard, Ohio State

Davis’s size, mobility, foot quickness, and strength are above average and he’s coming off a 2019 season in which he did not give up a sack or a hit on the quarterback in 400-plus pass pro reps, and he has given up only one sack in 2020.

The Eagles need an elite athlete at guard and Davis could be an option of the Eagles trade down.

Derion Kendrick, CB, Clemson

The 20-year-old junior is a converted wide receiver who now plays outside corner for the Tigers and has turned some early struggles into possibly being a first-round pick.

A second-team All-ACC performer in 2019, his greatest strengths are his athleticism, versatility, and toughness, something the Eagles sorely need.

Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

The Eagles love a running back by committee approach and with Miles Sanders struggling to stay healthy, Etienne is a player to watch.

Etienne has shown that he’s an explosive player with above-average speed who had 18 plays for 20-plus yards this season.

The Clemson All American has 69 career rushing touchdowns and has two-straight 1,600+ rushing yard seasons since 2018 to go with the 882 logged through 11 games this year.

Even better for the Eagles, Etienne already has 524 receiving yards this season, more than the previous three, showing his improvement in the passing game.

Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama*

Alabama defensive lineman Christian Barmore (58) pressures Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano (2) as he passes during the Crimson Tide’s 35-13 victory in Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019.

It’s unknown if he’ll enter the NFL draft, but Barmore had a breakout season in 2020 with six sacks and three forced fumbles on Alabama’s stout defensive line.

He still needs to develop as a pass-rusher, and that could cause him to stay in school despite his strong prowess as a run-stopper.

Najee Harris, RB, Alabama

Similar to Etienne, Harris provides the Eagles a possible fit with Miles Sanders and the Crimson Tide’s top ball-carrier is equally as talented as a pass-catcher as well.

Harris has great size and speed and is strong at the point of contact. Not necessarily Derrick Henry in the passing game, Harris has emerged as a strong pass catcher.

As a Crimson Tide running back, Harris comes from great stock and his 24 rushing touchdowns rank No. 1 in the country this season, while his 1,262 rushing yards are No. 3 in the country.
