The independent UConn football program has announced another marquee opponent — Ohio State, which will host the Huskies in 2025.
UConn will not host Ohio State, instead receiving a guarantee payout of $1.95 million on or before Feb. 28, 2026. The Huskies game in Columbus will be played Oct. 18, 2025 and will be the first meeting between the programs.
Ohio State is the sixth opponent announced for 2025, joining Central Connecticut, Purdue, Ball State, Buffalo, and Army.
With UConn joining the Big East this year, the football program will be without a conference affiliation. Athletic director David Benedict is building non-conference schedules, including games against some of the biggest names in college football.
UConn will play at Clemson in 2021, at Michigan in 2022, at Tennessee in 2023, and Maryland in 2024 and 2026. There are also games schedule with Duke, Boston College, Syracuse, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Army, UCF, and Purdue.
