A former University of Georgia football star who was busted last week, is recovering in a hospital after a jailhouse brawl, according to reports.
Quintavius Harrow, 27, who earned a scholarship to play special teams and defensive back for the Bulldogs in 2011, was rushed to a hospital in Columbus Tuesday after getting into a dust-up with a fellow prisoner at the Muscogee County Jail, WRBL reports.
Harrow, who was booked into the facility Friday, was the aggressor in the attack, during which hair clippers were used as a weapon, Sheriff Donna Tompkins told the station.
Harrow’s injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, Tompkins told WTVM.
Harrow is being held at the jail on charges including marijuana possession, theft by receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and violation of his probation, among others, WTVM reports.
A message seeking additional comment from sheriff officials about the fight and Harrow’s condition was not immediately returned Thursday.
Harrow was sentenced in 2016 to four years in prison follow by six years of probation after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery and related weapons charges. The “once-promising” gridiron star has faced up to 26 years if convicted on all counts he faced, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.
Harrow played just one season at Georgia, where he was dismissed for academic reasons, WRBL reports. He was also named among the Bulldogs’ Newcomer of the Year Award winners in December 2011, according to the team’s website.
