John Holladay has resigned as Etowah High’s football coach.

His resignation was accepted by the Attalla City Schools Board of Education on Tuesday, the Gadsden Times reported.

Holladay went 9-2 in his only season with the Blue Devils. Etowah’s only regular season loss came at Pell City. The Blue Devils lost to Center Point in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Holladay replaced Drew Noles as Etowah’s coach last season.

Holladay has a 149-88 record in 22 years overall as a head coach in Alabama. He has had stops at Brilliant (1996-1998), Hamilton (1999-2004), Clay-Chalkville (2005-2006), Walker (2007-2012), Buckhorn (2016) and Tuscaloosa County (2017-2018).
