Big Ten Football Players of the Week - Big Ten Conference

Following Big Ten football games on Oct. 30-31, the Co-Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week and Co-Freshmen of the Week in the Big Ten were announced this morning. Below are this week's honorees:
 
Co-Offensive Players of the Week
Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland
So., QB, Ewa Beach, Hawaii/Thompson
  • Became the third Big Ten player in the last 20 seasons to notch 350 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in a single game as Maryland defeated Minnesota in overtime
  • Completed 26-of-35 passes for 394 yards, the 10th most single-game passing yards in school history and the most since Danny O'Brien passed for 417 yards against N.C. State in 2010
  • Added 59 rushing yards, including a 39-yard touchdown in the first quarter
  • Collects his first career Offensive Player of the Week award
  • Last Maryland Offensive Player of the Week: Javon Leake (Oct. 29, 2018)
 
Justin Fields, Ohio State
Jr., QB, Kennesaw, Ga./Harrison
  • Threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns while completing 28-of-34 passes as Ohio State defeated Penn State
  • First seven passes were all completions, giving him 16 consecutive completions over two games to tie the school record set by J.T. Barrett in 2016
  • Directed the Ohio State offense to 526 total yards in the contest
  • Earns his first career Offensive Player of the Week award
  • Last Ohio State Offensive Player of the Week: J.K. Dobbins (Dec. 2, 2019)
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Tommy Togiai, Ohio State
Jr., DT, Pocatello, Idaho/Highland
  • Recorded a career-best three sacks at Penn State on Saturday night
  • Led the team with a career-high seven tackles, including four solo stops
  • Anchored a defense that held the Nittany Lions to 44 yards rushing
  • Claims his first career Defensive Player of the Week honor
  • Last Ohio State Defensive Player of the Week: Chase Young (Nov. 25, 2019)
 
Special Teams Player of the Week
Charles Campbell, Indiana
So., K, Jackson, Tenn./University School of Jackson
  • Converted a career-best three field goals in a road win against Rutgers
  • Connected from 28, 31 and 42 yards in the contest
  • Successful on all four PAT attempts to total 13 points
  • Earns his first career Special Teams Player of the Week honor
  • Last Indiana Special Teams Player of the Week: Logan Justus (Sept. 2, 2019)
 
Co-Freshmen of the Week
Ricky White, Michigan State
WR, Marietta, Ga./Marietta
  • Set a school record for a freshman with 196 receiving yards in a win at Michigan on Saturday
  • Caught eight passes in the contest, including a 30-yard touchdown reception to open the scoring in the first quarter
  • Added a 50-yard reception on Michigan State's opening possession of the second half to set up a Spartans' field goal and a 31-yard catch late in the fourth quarter to give his team first-and-goal and set up the Spartans' game-sealing touchdown
  • Earns his first career Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Michigan State Freshman of the Week: Rocky Lombardi (Oct. 29, 2018)
 
Brandon Joseph, Northwestern
S, College Station, Texas/College Station
  • Hauled in the first two interceptions of his career to help the Wildcats overcome a 17-0 deficit at Iowa to improve to 2-0
  • Recorded four tackles, including three solo stops
  • Both interceptions came in the second half of the contest
  • Claims his first career Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Northwestern Freshman of the Week: Coco Azema (Dec. 2, 2019)
