Who plays on 'Thursday Night Football' tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for NFL Week 7 - Sporting News

The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles enter "Thursday Night Football" with the same number of wins. The only problem? It's Week 7 and each of those teams only has one win.

Despite that, the NFC East is a weak division still very up for grabs, with the best way to win it probably being to put up a good divisional record. Carson Wentz and the Eagles will try to do so despite missing a number of key pieces due to injury, while the Giants carry in some momentum after winning for the first time this season in Week 6.

This likely will be a game where the team that limits mistakes comes out on top. The Giants are simply a bad football team, and the Eagles are playing second- and third-stringers. Bad offenses and bad defenses often leave things as a bit of a toss-up, so the team doesn't help the other will likely win.

Below is more about the Week 7 "Thursday Night Football" matchup and how to watch it.

Who plays on Thursday Night Football tonight?

  • Matchup: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
  • Location: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

After a week away from its normal time slot due to rescheduling, Thursday Night Football returns to be simulcast on Fox and the NFL Network after NFL Network had exclusive TV rights to the games prior to Week 5. Despite bad records for both teams, Fox will be excited about a matchup of two marquee markets.

The Eagles will be looking for their second win despite the likely absences of Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert and Miles Sanders. Carson Wentz will be hoping that the backup brigade, led by Travis Fulgham and Boston Scott, can deliever with their "next man up" mentality.

The Giants also want their second win, and it'll take protecting the ball from Daniel Jones to make it happen. He'll also have to have more offensive success than he did in the second half of Week 6 against Washington, when New York barely moved the ball.

What time is the NFL game tonight?

  • Date: Thursday, Oct. 22
  • Kickoff time: 8:20 p.m. ET

All Thursday night games throughout the 2020 NFL season will start at 8:20 p.m. ET, though the TV viewing options (more on those below) have expanded beginning with Week 5.

With both teams on the east coast, the high majority of viewers will be seeing "Thursday Night Football" at 8:20 local time. The Eagles will play at 8:20 p.m. ET again in Week 8, when they play Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys.

Daniel Jones and the Giants return to prime time after losing their season opener in the first game of Monday Night Football's Week 1 doubleheader. That loss was to the Pittsburgh Steelers, so the Giants will be hoping they don't have a Pennsylvania curse.

What channel is "Thursday Night Football on tonight?

Beginning in Week 5, all "Thursday Night Football" games will broadcast live on cable network Fox in addition to NFL Network. That simulcast setup will be in place through Week 16.

Week 5 is also the beginning of Thursday night broadcasts on Amazon Prime Video. Amazon will likely use this platform as a runway to setup a big bid in the next set of TV rights negotiations.

NFL Network is available via most cable providers in the United States. It also is available via satellite provider DirecTV (channels 212 and 1212) and IPTV providers Verizon FiOS (channels 88 and 588) and Google Fiber (channel 2019).

NFL live streams for Thursday night game

With the addition of Fox and Amazon Prime to this week's broadcast, the streaming options have expanded. Fox Sports Go is now a possibility for cable subscribers, in addition to Amazon Prime and the rest of your possible streaming services outlined here.

Below are all of the live streaming options for "Thursday Night Football" in 2020.

NFL Week 7 schedule

Four teams are on bye in Week 7: the Vikings, Colts, Dolphins and Ravens. That leaves 14 scheduled NFL games for Week 7, including Giants-Eagles to kickoff the week on Thursday night.

The other prime-time offerings are sort of meh, with the Buccaneers playing the Raiders on Sunday night and the Bears and Rams meeting up on Monday. The best games may come on Sunday afternoon, when the undefeated Titans face off with the undefeated Steelers. Patriots-49ers also should have a strong fan-base interest in it.
