Five Things to Know About Utah Football Spring 2020 - 247Sports

Snow melts. Flowers bloom. Allergies invade and coats retreat into storage, but the most important part of spring, other than a necessary dose of vitamin D and the official opening of patio season is that football begins anew. For the 2020 season at the University of Utah, it might be the most important spring in the past decade(we know you've heard this before, but it's true), if for no other reason than the progress the program has made and the production that was lost.

Two straight Pac-12 South division titles and a run nationally at the College Football Playoff has placed Utah in the consciousness of the college football landscape at a time when the Pac-12 is looking for a program to carry the banner and break into the playoff. While Oregon seems to have that spot occupied at the moment, now is a perfect time for the Utes to strike and continue to build on the success the program has had the past few years. So what needs to happen? Well, Utah will need to replace 13 of the most impactful starters in program history, nine of which landed at the NFL combine and several more who will go on to long, impressive NFL careers. It's been the most talented and developed team in Utah history, and while they might have fallen just short of becoming the greatest, the bar was undoubtedly raised and the standard set for generations to come is high as it has ever been.

For that reason and for so many others, (we're junkies admittedly, it's okay to be obsessed with football without consequence) we tune in and ramp up our attention as Utah embarks on developing the next class of Uboyz to enter the hallowed walls of Rice-Eccles and represent the standard set by so many teams before them. Because of this, we here at UteZone want to give you five good facts to know as Utah progresses through spring and into the unknown that is the 2020 season.
