AUSTIN, Texas – The Big 12 Conference announced the 2021 league football schedule on Thursday. The announcement completes Texas' 2021 slate, with the three non-conference games having been previously announced.
Steve Sarkisian's first season as head coach at Texas begins on Sept. 4 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, as the Longhorns play host to Louisiana. UT will also host Rice on Sept. 18 in its non-conference finale. In between those games is a road trip to face Arkansas on Sept. 11. It will mark the 79th meeting between the schools, and the first matchup pitting the former Southwest Conference foes against each other in Fayetteville since 2004.
Texas will host four Big 12 opponents at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, beginning with Texas Tech in the conference opener on Sept. 25. The Longhorns will also square off with Oklahoma State (Oct. 16), Kansas (Nov. 13) and Kansas State (Nov. 27) in Austin this fall.
The road portion of the conference schedule begins on Oct. 2 when Texas travels up I-35 to face TCU in Fort Worth. After that, Texas will be on the road for matchups against Baylor (Oct. 30), Iowa State (Nov. 6) and West Virginia (Nov. 20).
The AT&T Red River Showdown vs. Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas is set for Oct. 9.
The 2021 Big 12 Football Championship Game will again be contested at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and is set for a Dec. 4 kickoff.
