Towards the end of the regular season, fans are treated to (sometimes) four days of games in a five-day span with NFL games on Saturday once the college football season wraps up. This past weekend, we saw four teams advance to the Conference Championships, getting one step closer to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. With just two weeks left in the 2020-2021 season, is there a Saturday NFL football game today?
As we advance to the Conference Championships, there are only two games this week. Like Week 17, all games will be played on Sunday. There will not be a Saturday NFL football game today.
Results from the Divisional Round
The defenses have settled in this postseason. The Green Bay Packers decisively defeated the Los Angeles Rams 32-18. Rodgers is continuing his dominance from the regular season and gets his first home NFC Championship game in his career. The linebackers are coming in strong with Za’Darius Smith and Rashan Gary’s great performances in their playoff game.
While the Packers backed up some good defense with some points, the Saturday night game was underwhelming. According to the National Weather Service, winds reached speeds of 24 miles per hour in Buffalo this past Saturday. Gusts blew as strong as 33 mph with an average wind speed was 9.4 mph, and it was evident.
With carried throws, missed kicks, and bad punts a plenty, the Baltimore Ravens and Bills’ offenses had a rough night. Buffalo pulled it out in the end, 17-3. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson would not finish the game after going out with a concussion just before the end of the third quarter.
Sunday’s Divisional Round Games
The Cleveland Browns went to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in a slugfest of a football game. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes would be ruled out after entering the concussion protocol with seven minutes and 44 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Mahomes has been cleared to play in the AFC Championship Game. The Browns tempted fate for a second but were ultimately held off by Chad Henne and a nasty Chiefs defense who was all over the place.
The Divisional Round’s final game saw two division rivals engaging in their third battle of the season. However, QB Tom Brady and the Buccaneers redeemed themselves from their 38-3 thrashing from the visiting Saints. The Buccaneers’ defense went into the Big Easy and had their way with the Saints’ offense.

Saints QB Drew Brees threw 3 interceptions, and a lost fumble from Jared Cook gave Tampa Bay the ability to pull away while also taking advantage of a short field. The Buccaneers will need the offense to sustain longer drives if they stand a chance of beating Rodgers in Lambeau in the NFC Championship Game.
