Wentz, Scott slay Giants

With the game on the line, Carson Wentz and Boston Scott delivered. Wentz found the Eagles' running back for a 17-yard touchdown pass to take a 22-21 lead to win the game. The Eagles trailed, 21-10 with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Wentz completed the comeback effort with two touchdown passes.

Brandon Graham sealed the game with a strip sack on Daniel Jones, forcing the Giants' third turnover of the night to help the Eagles move to 2-4-1.

Wentz to Ward

The Eagles' are back within one score after Carson Wentz found Greg Ward for a three-yard score to make it 21-16. The Eagles went for a two-point conversion after a personal foul gave the team just one yard to make it a three-point game, but Wentz’s run was snuffed out.

Stagnant O returns

Daniel Jones threw his third touchdown pass of the night to give the Giants a 21-10 lead over the Eagles with 6:17 left in the fourth quarter. The drive started on the Giants 3-yard line after the Eagles failed to score on a fourth-and-goal play that targeted recent practice-squad promotion Hakeem Butler.

Last laugh

Daniel Jones broke off an 80-yard run that ended with him tripping with no one between him and the end zone, but the Giants laughed last. Four plays later, Giants running back Wayne Gallman scored from one yard out to give the Giants a 14-10 lead over the Eagles midway through the third quarter.

Elliott’s blunder

Jake Elliott missed a 29-yard field goal, meaning the Eagles will take a 10-7 lead into halftime. Considering the Eagles’ defense forced two turnovers and the Birds scored on their opening drive, it’s a bit surprising they don’t lead by more, but Carson Wentz’s inconsistency in the first half and Elliott’s missed kick kept them from capitalizing ono the Giants' miscues.

Josh Sweat forced a fumble in the closing minute of the second quarter, punching the ball out of Dion Lewis' hands, giving the Eagles a final scoring chance at the end of the half.

Wentz’s weird choice

Carson Wentz went into hero mode trying to capitalize on the Eagles' interception, but gave the Giants their first pick of the game on a questionable throw to the end zone. James Bradberry caught the pass, which was floated up for grabs around several Giants defensive backs.

Mills' stellar sequence

Jalen Mills got the Eagles' first turnover of the game, making a diving interception midway through the second quarter. Mills' pick came one play after he got a quarterback hit, rushing Daniel Jones and forcing an incompletion.

Jake Elliott hit a 31-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 10-7 lead with 13:28 left in the second quarter. The field goal capped off a 13-play, 57-yard drive that chewed up 5 minutes and 45 seconds.

The Eagles lost the toss and the New York Giants elected to defer, giving the Eagles offense the first chance. The offensive line, which had some uncertainty at right guard, will have Nate Herbig switching back to the right and Sua Opeta slotting in at left guard.

Welcome to the blog

Good evening, Eagles fans. Welcome to the live blog and greetings on this beautiful Thursday night. The Eagles are less than an hour away from playing the New York Giants on national television. They enter Lincoln Financial Field hoping to reverse course on a 1-4-1 start and regain footing with two more division games coming up.

The Eagles will be without several offensive starters, including Miles Sanders, Zach Ertz, and Dallas Goedert to name a few, but there is help on the way. DeSean Jackson and Lane Johnson are both active and expected to play. Jackson’s missed the last three games with a hamstring injury, while Johnson was sidelined last week with an ankle injury that’s hampered him all season.

The Giants (1-5) are coming off their first win of the season and could also find themselves trending in the right direction in the dreary NFC East standings with the upset tonight. Their head coach, Joe Judge, is a Lansdale native who went to Lansdale Catholic. It’s his first year leading the Giants after spending eight seasons with the New England Patriots, so don’t be surprised to see some cutaways in the broadcast to see his family in the stands.
