Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry told comedian Kevin Hart that Alabama football players are treated like royalty by Crimson Tide football fans during the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner’s appearance on “Cold As Balls: Cold Calls,” which premiered on Monday.
In the first season of the internet interview show from Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network, the comedian talked to his guests while they sat in side-by-side tubs of ice water. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the show has moved to an online version without the ice water but with Hart trying to guess the guest.

During Monday’s episode, Hart asked Henry about playing football at Alabama, where the running back holds the career record for rushing yards.
“Alabama, there ain’t really no pro teams, so it’s basically you pro, you everything,” Henry said. “That’s all they know is football, so they treat you like royalty out there from the time you get on campus. But when you elevate your game as a player it just gets better.”
In addition to the Heisman Trophy, Henry won the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Player of the Year Award at Alabama in 2015, when he set SEC single-season records with 2,219 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns for the Crimson Tide’s CFP national championship team.
But that got Henry into only the second round of the NFL Draft in 2016.
“Mainly my attitude was to earn my respect,” Henry said about his transition to the pros. “When you come to the NFL, you got to earn your stripes. It’s basically like starting over, just like when you get to college.”
After backing up DeMarco Murray for two years, Henry had his first 1,000-yard rushing season in 2018.
In his fourth NFL season, Henry led the league with 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns on 303 rushing attempts in the regular season as he earned his first Pro Bowl invitation and received All-NFL recognition from the Pro Football Writers of America. He also was the leading rusher in the postseason, with 446 yards and two touchdowns on 83 carries in three playoff games.
TITANS’ GENERAL MANAGER SOUNDS FAMILIAR MESSAGE ON DERRICK HENRY’S CONTRACT
During Monday’s episode, Hart guessed that Henry’s nickname was the Cat in the Hat. It’s really King Henry or El Tractorcito. The comedian also compared the new dad’s physique to that of Launch Pad, a character on the “Duck Tales” cartoon program.
